|Interactions between signal transduction pathways are common, and thus intracellular signaling is now regarded as a single signaling network formed by highly intertwined pathways. |
The primary goal of SignaLink is to allow system-level analyses using the network of the major intracellular signaling pathways. The pathways were manually curated for three metazoans, C. elegans, D. melanogaster, and human. The directed signaling interactions were tagged with the primary research articles providing experimental evidence.
The multi-layered database structure is made up of signaling pathways, their protein regulators and modifier enzymes, as well as transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulators of all of these components.
